Lady Hornets Fall 3-1 To Midd-West In D4 Semi-Finals

Loyalsock Township - Wellsboro fell to #2 Midd-West 3-1 Monday night in their first trip to the District IV semi-finals.
The game was scoreless for the majority of the first half until Nittany Weaver scored with 5:19 remaining, giving the Lady Mustangs the lead at the half. Evelyn Mitchell increased Midd-West's lead later in the second half with a goal, making it 2-0.
The Lady Hornets quickly got the game back to within a goal as senior Megan Newruck scored off an assist from sophomore Haylie Smith just over a minute later, with 13:02 remaining, to cut the lead down to 2-1.
The score remained 2-1 in favor or Midd-West until the last minute and 43 seconds when Addie Yerg found the back of the net.
Midd-West out-shot Wellsboro 18-3 and had an 11-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Senior Jadyn Dunlap saved 15 of the Lady Mustangs' shot attempts.
Wellsboro finishes their season 14-5-1 (11-2-1 NTL).
