Dunlap Surpasses 500 Saves; Lady Hornets Tie Lady Trojans

Senior Jadyn Dunlap surpassed the 500 career save mark in last night's 1-1 draw with Troy.

Troy came into the contest undefeated in league play. Dunlap saved six of Troy's seven shots on goal, putting her at 502 saves for her career.

"Considering we were 1-15 against them in our previous 17 matches, with our last win coming back in 2018, I'm really proud of the way our girls competed tonight," head coach Michael Reese said. "We came out with great ball movement and scored early, then lost some of our composure for much of the first half."

The Lady Hornets wasted little time as sophomore Haylie Smith took a pass from junior Luna Moyer and sent it past the keeper, giving Wellsboro the lead just 19 seconds into the match. Troy later struck on a Stella Rockwell penalty kick with 31:20 left in the opening half.

Neither team scored the remainder of the game.

"We settled down in the second half, started creating opportunities and put ourselves in position to win the game, we just couldn't find that second goal," Reese added. "It was a very physical match from both sides and I thought our girls continued to battle. And for Jadyn to reach 500 career saves in a game like this makes the milestone even more special. That's a tremendous accomplishment."

Wellsboro took six shots in the game, five by Smith and the other by Moyer. Troy had a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Wellsboro won the JV game on a pair of Dunlap goals and one from junior Carly Blackwell. Sophomore Olive Twoey made 3 saves in goal.

The Lady Hornets now sit at 3-1-1 (3-0-1 NTL). They host Muncy Saturday morning in non-league action.
