Seeling Hat Trick Leads Hornets To 5-1 Win Over Galeton

Senior David Seeling scored a hat trick to help the Wellsboro Boys Soccer programs improve to 2-0 on the young season with wins over Galeton on Wednesday night.

The Varsity team won 5-1 while the JV team earned a 3-0 shutout.

"We talked about getting out to an early lead and that’s what the boys did again tonight, putting together a nice string of passes to get a goal within the first 5-6 minutes of the game," said head coach Todd Fitch. "I was pleased with the team's mindset and determination throughout the match."

In the Varsity game Seeling found the back of the net not even five minutes into the contest off an assist from sophomore Gabe Cuneo. Galeton answered back seven minutes later with their lone goal of the evening to tie things up at 1-all, however the Hornets went on a 4-0 run to close out the game.

With 21:05 remaining Seeling scored for the second time, unassisted, to put the Hornets up for good, 2-1. In the second half senior Jonathan Carl scored back-to-back goals, the second assisted by Seeling to put Wellsboro up 4-1 just under the midway point of the half.

Seeling completed his hat trick with 17:42 remaining in the game on an unassisted goal.

Wellsboro out shot Galeton 11-6 and had a 10-2 advantage in corner kicks. Senior Camden Tom and junior Kayden Rogers combined for four saves in goal.

In the JV game freshman Liam Stevens scored a pair of unassisted goals. His first came two and a half minutes into the game, while his second happened six minutes into the second half. Sophomore Connor Hartman scored the Hornets' third goal with nine minutes left to play.

Wellsboro (2-0, 1-0 NTL) travels to South Williamsport for a non-league game Saturday afternoon.
