The Wellsboro Girls Soccer team suffered a 5-0 loss to Hughesville in the Quarterfinal round of the District IV Class 2A playoffs on Thursday.

The Lady Spartans scored all five goals in the first half, led by a pair of goals from Kylie Temple.

"Tonight we fell 5-0 to an amazing Hughesville team. The score doesn't tell the story of how far this group has come," commented head coach Michael Reese. "The bar was raised this season with the effort, growth and success these girls created together."

Wellsboro found themselves in an early 1-0 hole on Temple's first goal, then Hugheville added goals at 23:22, 22:51, 19:12 and with 7:35 left in the half.

The Lady Spartans took 17 shots on goal and held the Lady Hornets to just one shot from junior Ella Boyce.

Hughesville also had an 11-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Junior Jadyn Dunlap made 12 saves in goal.

"The end of the season is never easy, but it means more when you know every player gave everything they had," concluded Reese. "I couldn't be more proud of this team and the standard they've set for the future of Wellsboro girls soccer."

The Lady Hornets finish the 2025 campaign with an 11-8-1 record (8-4-1 NTL).
