The Wellsboro Varsity Girls Soccer team's 2nd half rally came up one goal short in a 3-2 loss to Loyalsock Saturday morning.

"How you play the game says more than the final score. You can't always control the outcome, but you can control how you compete," said head coach Michael Reese. "Our girls played hard and kept their composure, even when their character was tested. We maintained steady pressure and created chances right up until the final whistle."

The Lady Lancers scored three first-half goals, one by Reese Temple at 30:22 and the other by Mackenzie Miller with 17:21 remaining.

Sophomore Luna Moyer got the Lady Hornets on the scoreboard off a direct kick with 12:51 remaining in the first half. Freshman Haylie Smith later scored with 11:52 left to play to tie the game up, however Miller struck for the 2nd time in the game with 4:49 to go.

Wellsboro was out shot 12-5 by Loyalsock and the Lady Lancers had a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Junior Jadyn Dunlap made 9 saves in goal.

The loss drops the Lady Hornets to 10-6-1 overall. The team is back in action for the final time in the regular season on Thursday against Muncy.
