Wellsboro's Boys Soccer team edged South Williamsport, 2-1, on the road to remain undefeated Saturday.

"We had injuries in the first half that left us shorthanded for the second half," head coach Todd Fitch said. "At that point we weren’t full strength, but others stepped in and created additional scoring chances, limited South’s opportunities at goal, and helped us get the result, which was a complete team effort."

The Hornets struck midway through the first half as junior Mason Brill found the back of the net after passes from seniors David Seeling and Jude Cuneo. Later, with 9:40 remaining, junior Colin Fletcher scored off a direct kick from Cuneo, putting Wellsboro up 2-nil.

The Mounties scored to cut the lead in half with 26:55 remaining on a penalty kick.

Wellsboro took 12 shots while holding South Williamsport to just two on the afternoon. The Hornets also had a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks. Junior Kayden Rogers had the lone save for the Hornets.

Wellsboro improves to 3-0 (1-0 NTL) following the win. The team is back in action Tuesday as they host Athens.
