Wellsboro's Junior High Soccer team shut out Troy 6-0 on Tuesday, October 1.

Liam Stevens went on a scoring spree for the young Hornets, scoring 5 of the Hornets' 6 goals on the evening. He started in the 7th minute on an unassisted goal to give Wellsboro the early lead, then followed it up with his 2nd goal of the contest 24 seconds later after stealing the ball and dribbling through the Troy defense, putting Wellsboro up 2-0 heading into halftime.

Stevens picked up in the 2nd half right where he left off with his 3rd goal of the game off a through ball from James Doughtie 4:07 in. Two minutes later Gage Baltzley assisted on Stevens' 4th goal of the game to increase the lead to 4-0. Maddon Mascho increased the lead to 5-0 off an assist from Haylie Smith before Stevens scored his 5th and final goal after stealing the kick off.

Wellsboro took 21 shots on goal and held Troy without a shot attempt.

"Liam had a terrific night tonight but all of that couldn't have been completed without the teams creative and consistent ball movement," said head coach Derek Stevens. "This team is very special to watch, they believe in each other and have fully bought into team ball."

The Hornets improve to 8-1 on the year and host North Penn-Liberty later this afternoon.
